James "Rhodey" Rhodes is a fictional superhero featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character has also gone by the code names of Iron Man and War Machine, but is known affectionately to his friends as just Rhodey. Created by writer David Michelinie and artist John Byrne, the character was first introduced in January, 1979 in Iron Man, Volume 1 #118 and has remained a regular supporting character in the series and it's various spin-offs as well as headlining his own War Machine comic titles.

- The character of James Rhodes was created by writer David Michelinie and artist John Byrne, although Bob Layton is generally credited with doing most artistic interpretations of the character during his early appearances.
- Rhodey first donned the Iron Man armor MK V and became Iron Man in Iron Man, Volume 1 #170 in May, 1983.
- Rhodey first donned the first War Machine armor in Iron Man, Volume 1 #282 in September, 1992.
