James Howlett, better known by his code name Wolverine, is a fictional mutant adventurer based on the comic book character character of the same name. The character first appeared in 2000 film X-Men where he was played by actor Hugh Jackman. Jackman reprised the role of Wolverine for the film's two sequels, X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand as well as the spin-off feature X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He also made a cameo guest appearance in the 2011 prequel film X-Men: First Class.

- This version of Wolverine was created by director Bryan Singer and screenwriters Tom DeSanto and David Hayter. The comic book version of the character was created by writer Len Wein and artists John Romita, Sr. and Herb Trimpe. Most comic fans credit writer Chris Claremont with truly defining the character however.
- Actor Troye Sivan played young James Howlett in the flashback scenes from X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
- The film version of Wolverine was also featured in the 2003 video game, X2: Wolverine's Revenge. He was voiced by Star Wars actor Mark Hamill in the game.
- The film version of Wolverine also appeared in the 2003 one-shot comic book special, X-Men 2 Prequel: Wolverine.
