James Hawes is a British television director. His first regular work as a director on a series was in 1996 when he began directing episodes of The Bill. He directed eight episodes of the program up until 1998. In 1998, he directed the documentary series Empires: Egypt's Golden Empire. In 2005, he directed five episodes of the Doctor Who revival series; two episodes from season one, and three episodes from season two. In 2008 he directed three episodes of Merlin.
