Jack McGee is a fictional journalist featured in the live-action superhero fantasy series, The Incredible Hulk. Played by actor Jack Colvin, he was introduced in the pilot movie of the show and was credited in all eighty-two regular episodes (though he did not always appear in each episode). McGee also appeared in the 1988 television movie, The Incredible Hulk Returns.

Overview[]

Jack McGee was an investigative reporter who worked for a tabloid newspaper known as the National Register. In 1977, he witnessed a fire (which he was unknowingly responsible for), which he believed was caused by a gigantic green creature that he dubbed, the Hulk. Further, he believed that the Hulk had murdered two scientists named David Banner and Elaina Marks. Though Marks certainly did die, Banner survived, owing largely to the fact that he was also the Hulk. Unaware of the Hulk's dual identity, McGee doggedly chased him around the country, committed to getting the keynote story on this urban legend that he believed would allow him to write his own ticket into any newspaper gig he wanted. Though he came across the Hulk on numerous occasions, McGee always seemed to be three steps behind in getting his big story.
