Jack Harper is the main villain in Tru Calling. He is Tru's opposite. Jack's motto to Tru is that it is his job to "bring a little balance to the universe". In the ending of the season 1 finale "two weddings and a funeral" Jack is seen getting into a limo, to the shock of the audience it is revealed he is working for Tru and Harrison's father, Richard Davies. Jack is considered to be like Richard,

Biography[]

Jack's first appearance was in the episode Daddy's Girl. He applies for the position, previously held by Gardez. Before Tru relived the day, Davis told her he didn't hire him, because of his references. When Tru relived the day, Davis gave him the job. His next appearance is in The Getaway. In this episode he is seen with Davis, waiting for Tru to give him a tour of the morgue. It is in this episode where Jack meets Luc and Harrison respectively. In Two Pair, Jack and Tru are examining the body of a college student who died by a gunshot wound. She asks for help, but Tru' day doesn't restart. When another body arrives at the morgue, he asks for help and her day restarts. Near the end of the episode, Harrison appears to save her, until she arrives at the morgue after killing herself. Tru and Davis give their condolences to her parents. When they leave they both wonder WHO could have told her parents about her debt, with Davis telling Tru that on day one, her parents did not know about said debt. At the end of the episode, Jack is shown touching Melissa's forehead in a creepy way. The following episode Death becomes her, Jack saves Harrison from being shot and tells Harrison that death is a part of life. In the episode Rear Window, Jack's past is revealed at the end of the episode, when Davis reveals to Tru that he spoke with a friend who told him that Jack, once checked himself into a psychiatric facility after he believed that dead people were asking for help, Tru looks in shock. The following episode D.O.A shows Jack telling Tru that he also relives days. Tru is happy, because finally someone understands her. But when the two go pick up a body, Tru wants to save the victim, while Jack wants the victim dead. In the season finale Two Weddings and A Funeral, Tru and Davis head to Jack's apartment only to find him gone. Davis then concludes that he came to the morgue many months ago and that Jack is death and makes sure his victims stay dead. When Harrison gets shot, Jack goes by the hospital and Tru kicks him out. In the episode he focuses on making sure Harrison dies. However, since Tru saves her brother, he decides to teach her a lesson and sends Luc to get murdered. At the end of the episode, it is revealed that he and Richard Davies are working together.

Season 2

In Season 2 The Storm it is revealed that a few months have passed and he is shown with Richard. The next time he encounters Tru is when a body asks for help and goes to Richard and tells him, he rewound. The following episode shows Jack by orders of Richard framing Tru for the murder of a psychiatrist, by opening a file for Tru. At the end of the episode, it appears he has a change of heart and saves Tru from being killed. The following episode shows Jack wishing Tru a happy birthday while still making sure a janitor dies. In the episode Enough, Jensen is murdered and doesn't ask for help. Jack tells Davis that Tru is messing around with Fate and that Jensen was meant to die. Tru goes on a collision course when a body that actually needs help, gives it to Harrison instead. Tru saves Jensen. However at the end of the episode, Tru begins to realize the consequences of her actions when Jensen tells Tru that he had a deja vu experience. This is when Tru realized Jack was right.

  • Although Jack is considered to be a villain, because he wants victims dead, some fans have questioned if he is actually good and if Tru is actually bad
  • It has been said that he just wants balance in the universe and that death is a part of life.
  • Had the show continued, Tru would have asked Jack for help, when Jensen became a killer and obsessed with death, and ask him to murder him
