Overview[]
Ivan Petrovich was a citizen of the Soviet Union and grew up in Stalingrad during the years leading up to World War II. During the Siege of Stalingrad, Ivan heard the cries of a woman in need. He spied a young mother clinging to her daughter atop a burning tower. There was no time to save both of them, but Ivan managed to catch the little girl as the tower collapsed killing the mother. The young girl was Natasha Romanoff. Ivan became Natasha's guardian and the two spent many years together, where he came to regard her as a daughter himself. He placed Natasha in the Soviet Red Room Academy where she excelled at all of her academic endeavors as well as becoming an accomplished gymnast and ballerina. When Natasha eventually grew up to become a KGB operative, Ivan remained by her side, posing as her chauffeur.
