Biography[]

Ivan Borloff was a foreign scientist. He entered the United States and evaded the police by hiding out in a house in Long Island. News of Borloff's whereabouts reached the ears of Wesley Dodds and he drove out to the safe house to confront him. When he arrived, he found that the scientist had invented a powerful ray device that could dissolve metal.

Unprepared for such a development, the Sandman was unable to stop Borloff form making his escape escape. He boarded an aircraft bound for Manhattan. The aircraft attacked Manhattan with Violet Metal Ray Guns, dissolving buildings and severing communications facilities.

Observing this terrible scene, the Sandman developed an idea for stopping the madman. He covered his car with sand, and advised Dian to do the same to the Army's aircraft. Sandman pursued Borloff's aircraft, and used his wirepoon gun to latch onto it. He fought Borloff and his man onboard, but was thrown out, to fall to his death.

Meanwhile, an Army air squadron attacked the aircraft of the scientist, Still, with only one plane covered in sand, the squadron was quickly destroyed. But that one plane, with Dian flying it, saved the Sandman and allowed him to get another chance at Borloff. This time the Sandman succeeded, and brought the aircraft, with the captives, onto the ground. [1]
