It was directed by Jack Arnold with a screenplay by Harry Essex, based on a story treatment by noted sci-fi luminary Ray Bradbury. The film was produced by Universal Pictures and released theatrically in the United States on May 25th, 1953.

It Came from Outer Space stars Richard Carlson as John Putnam, Barbara Rush as Ellen Fields, Charles Drake as Sheriff Matt Warren, Joe Sawyer as Frank Daylon, Russell Johnson as George and Kathleen Hughes as June.
