The Island Bridge is a fictional location featured in the Superman animated film shorts by Fleischer Studios. It appeared in the first film short, "The Mad Scientist". An unidentified Mad Scientist - angered with the scientific community for mocking his achievements, took his revenge upon them by developing an Electrothanasia-ray. He sent a letter to the Daily Planet threatening to use it against the city at the stroke of midnight. True to his word, the mad scientist activated his massive Electrothanasia-Ray. The beam stretched out and destroyed the Island Bridge. Superman was aware of the madman's threat, but was too late to stop the destruction of the bridge.
