"The Thing Lay Still" is the seventh episode of season one of the Interview with the Vampire television series produced by Gran Via Productions. It was directed by Alexis Ostrander with a script written by Rolin Jones and Ben Philippe. It premiered to AMC+ subscribers off their streaming service on November 6th, 2022. Its first regular airing was on Sunday, November 13th, 2022.
Plot[]
Lestat kills a man dying of cancer, who came to him seeking a cure through immortality.
Afterward, Lestat decides that the group should leave New Orleans. Meanwhile, Claudia and Louis telepathically conspire on how they are going to rid themselves of their Lestat problem. Claudia decides to orchestrate a lavish Mardi Gras ball, at which time, they will kill Lestat.
Meanwhile in the present, Daniel Molloy questions Louis about some discrepancies in his recounting of the plot to murder Lestat. Moreover, he also take observational interest in Rashid, and discovers that the is much more than just a mild-mannered servant and lover to Louis.

- The title of this episode, "The Thing Lay Still", is taken directly from a line from the Interview with the Vampire novel.
- The overall storyline from this episode is taken from a scene from the Interview with the Vampire novel, albeit with some differences. In the novel, Claudia was the sole instigator behind the attempted murder of Lestat. Louis had nothing to do with it. Claudia tricks Lestat into drinking "dead blood" from the twins, then slits his throat.
- In this episode, Claudia and Louis dispose of Lestat's body by throwing it in a dumpster. In the novel, they threw him in the swamps.
- Armand the Vampire is a character who originated in the Interview with the Vampire novel. He is presented as having the appearance of a 17-year-old boy with long curly, red hair and is of Ukrainian descent. In the TV series, Rashid is presented as Middle Eastern.
