Inhibitor collar

An inhibitor collar is a device designed to suppress superhuman abilities, including naturally developed mutant abilities. They are often used by organizations and agencies who were formed to combat super=powered threats, but they have also been used by enemy agents as well. The technology used in such devices varies, but in most cases, the inhibitor collar negates a person's powers in totality until it is removed. Some exceptionally powerful individuals may possess enough ability to cause a collar to overload.

On The Gifted, the agents of Sentinel Services use inhibitor collars to restrain unlawful mutants. Even after a mutant is captured and imprisoned, they are forced to continue wearing the inhibitor collar. Lorna Dane was one such victim, though she was able to generate a small measure of electromagnetic radiation despite the collar. Former Federal prosecutor Reed Strucker referred to the inhibitors as "flea collars".

Inhibitor collars are used widely in the Marvel Universe, particularly when someone needs to bring some stinkin' mutie to heel. They've also been used on other non-mutant empowered individuals as well. Doctor Octopus once slapped two inhibitor collars on Reed Richards and Susan Richards when they proved resistant to a search warrant of the Baxter Building from the Department of Homeland Security.
