The Incans were an empire that existed in western South America from 1438 until 1533, succeeding the kingdom of Cusco. It was the largest empire in pre-Columbian America. The influence of the Incan Empire expanded through the areas of modern day Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, and Ecuador. The Inca Empire was unique in that it lacked many features associated with civilization in the Old World.
