The Imperial Navy is a fictional military organization featured in the Star Wars multimedia franchise. They first appeared in the 1977 feature film Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, which was originally known as just Star Wars at the time of its initial release.
The Imperial Navy is one of the major armed divisions of the First Galactic Empire. They are the service personnel of the Imperial fleet, and also maintain various outposts, battle stations and planetary military stations. The Imperial Navy officiates all aerial combat campaigns on behalf of the Empire.
