Immortal Universe

The Immortal Universe is a licensing brand that relates to the television adaptive works of books originally authored by novelist Anne Rice. Under the umbrella of the greater Immortal Universe falls two different book lines, The Vampire Chronicles, and the Lives of the Mayfair Witches.

The first television program under this label is Interview with the Vampire. This show is an adaptation of the Interview with the Vampire novel, which was published by Knopf on May 5th, 1976. It was produced by Gran Via Productions and premiered on AMC and to AMC+ subscribers on October 2nd, 2022. Although the series takes liberties with the original narrative, it received positive acclaim from critics, who praised the series for its tone, production values, costuming and performances. Interview with the Vampire stars Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac along with Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt. Also starring in the show is Bailey Bass as Claudia, Eric Bogosian as Daniel Malloy and Assad Zaman as Armand. The series chronicles the life of Louis de Pointe du Lac - a vampire from the 1910s who chronicles the history of his life and relationship to his maker Lestat to a journalist named Daniel.

Another program, Mayfair Witches, is based on the first book from the Lives of the Mayfair Witches line, The Witching Hour, which was originally published in October, 1990. This series debuted on AMC on January 8th, 2023. It stars Alexandra Daddario as Rowan Fielding with Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, Jack Huston as the enigmatic Lasher, and Harry Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair. The story follows the character of Rowan Fielding - a very successful neurosurgeon living in San Francisco, who comes to discover that she is the last in a long line of powerful witches from New Orleans. The series was developed for television by Esta Spalding & Michelle Ashford and produced by AMC Studios and Gran Via Productions.
