Illyrians are a fictional humanoid alien race featured in the Star Trek multimedia franchise. Retroactively, Illyrians first appeared in the original unaired pilot episode of the original series "The Cage". The character of "Number One", was later provided with the proper name of Una Chin-Riley in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and was identified as being a member of the Illyrian race.
Description[]
Illyrians are a humanoid race that are visually indistinguishable from normal humans. However, through the practice of genetic modification, they are actually stronger, smarter and heartier than the average human. Given the Federation Starfleet's controversial history with augments that culminated in the Eugenics Wars, the ensuing administration prohibited Illyrians from becoming members of Starfleet.

- Fictional Illyrians are not to be confused with actual Illyrians, who were a group of Indo-European-speaking peoples who inhabited the western Balkan Peninsula in ancient times.
