Ian Malcolm is a fictional scientist and one of the main characters featured in the Jurassic Park multimedia franchise. He first appeared in the 1990 novel, Jurassic Park, by author Michael Crichton. He first appeared on film in the 1993 summer blockbuster, Jurassic Park, where he was played by actor Jeff Goldblum. Goldblum reprised the character for the film's first sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, where he served as the main protagonist of the movie.
