The IG-227 Hailfire-class droid tank is a fictional vehicle featured in the Star Wars multimedia franchise. They relate to the prequel trilogy and first appeared in the 2002 film Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
Description[]
The IG-227 Hailfire-class droid tank is a ground assault vehicle developed by Haor Chall Engineering corporation. The were 8.5 meters high by 8.5 meters wide with a central chassis compartment offset by two large wheels. The IG-227s were equipped with 2 missile launcher pods that could fire up to fifteen guided missiles each. They also boasted twin blaster cannons on the bottom of the central pod. As these were droid tanks, no physical pilot was required.
History[]
The Hailfire tanks were deployed during the Battle of Geonosis in 22 BBY, which precipitated the Clone Wars. [1] They were then used at the Battle of Muunilinst [2], and later at the Mission to Zaadja eighteen months later. [3]
