The Hulk's cave is a fictional location featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. It is associated with the Hulk line of comic titles and first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #2 in July, 1962.
The Hulk's cave was an underground grotto located in New Mexico some distance away from the Los Diablos Missile Base, also known as "Gamma Base", which is where Bruce Banner worked up until the day that he was exposed to gamma radiation from a detonating Gamma Bomb that first turned him into the Hulk. Banner discovered the cave and used it as a hideout as well as a personal prison in the hopes of keeping the Hulk contained. Banner erected a containment chamber within the cave that was behind a ten-foot thick concrete wall, which was bolstered by a massive hydraulic press. Banner also used this cave as a sanctuary so that he could study the specifics of his condition in the hopes of finding a cure.
Bruce's trusted confidante, Rick Jones, was aware of the existence of the cave, and spent a great deal of time there, either helping Bruce out, or keeping vigil while the Hulk pounded at the wall inside the containment chamber.
Banner also kept a gamma ray projector inside the cave. This came in handy in situations where he required extra doses of gamma radiation to prompt the change in case of emergency.
