Plot[]
In the middle of a murky swamp stands the House of Usher, a dilapidated mansion and home to Roderick Usher and his sister Madeline. A man named Philip Winthrop journeys to the House of Usher to visit his fiancée, Madeline. Roderick warns Philip that the Ushers suffer from a cursed bloodline of madness - a curse that may spread unto Philip's heirs should he marry Madeline. Madeline falls into a state of catatonia, and Roderick takes advantage of her condition to convince Philip that she has passed away. Roderick arranges to have her entombed in the family crypt beneath the house. When Madeline awakens, she goes into a frenetic state of complete mania for being buried alive. Breaking free, she attacks Roderick and their struggle sets the house aflame. Though Philip escapes, both of the Roderick siblings and the family butler Bristol die as the House of Usher crumbles around them.
