Hiroshi Koizumi is a Japanese film actor. He was born in the city of Kamakura in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan on August 12th, 1926. Koizumi's film career mostly spanned the mid 1950s through the 1970s. In the science fiction genre, he is best known for his work in the Godzilla film series.
Career[]
Hiroshi's first work in sci-fi was playing Shoichi Tsukioka in the 1955 movie Godzilla Raids Again. In 1961, Koizumi played Doctor Shin'ichi Chûjô in Mothra. Twenty-two years later, he would revise the role of Chûjô for the 2003 movie Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S..
Hiroshi Koizumi played a character named Professor Miura in two different movies. He played him in Godzilla vs. Mothra in 1964, and he played him in Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, released that same year.
A few of Hiroshi's non-Godzilla film projects include Matango: Attack of the Mushroom People in 1963, in which he played Naovuki Sakuta. That same year, Hiroshi played Detective Itô in Atragon, which is only quasi-connected to the greater Godzillaverse due to the appearance of the sea serpent, Manda. He also played a character named Kirino in Dogora in 1964.
After Ghidorah, Hiroshi took a break from the Toho Company stomping grounds for nearly a decade. He returned to the franchise in 1974 with Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla where he played Professor Wagura. Following this, he didn't return to the series for yet another decade, until finally playing Geologist Minami in Godzilla 1985.
Hiroshi's final work in the franchise was reprising the role of Shin'ichi Chûjô from Mothra for the Millennium series film Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S..
