The Hill of the Seven Jackals is a fictional location featured in films produced by Universal Pictures as part of the "Mummy" line of their Universal Monsters brand. It first appeared in the 1940 film The Mummy's Hand.
Overview[]
The Hill of the Seven Jackals was located in the country of Egypt in North Africa in the region known as Karnak. Some three-thousand years ago, the Priests of Arkam buried the Princess Ananka here. Ananka's lover, Kharis, had attempted to resurrect her using the sacred Tana leaves, which was a forbidden act. For this crime, Kharis was turned into a living mummy and chosen to serve as the guardian of Princess Ananka's tomb.
History[]
In 1940, archeologist Steve Banning managed to finale funding for an expedition from an investor named Henry Sullivan. Along with Steve's partner Babe Jensen, Sullivan's daughter Marta, and a colleague named Doctor Petrie, they ventured out to the Hill of the Seven Jackals to excavate the area in the hopes of finding Ananka's tomb.
A man named Andoheb, who had only recently became a High Priest of Karnak, was tasked with resurrecting the mummy of Kharis and sending it out to destroy the members of the expedition. Although Banning, Jensen and the Sullivans survived, Doctor Petrie was murdered by the Mummy. Babe Jensen dealt a near-fatal gunshot to Andoheb at the tomb of the steps of the Temple of Karnak.

Notes[]
- In The Mummy's Hand the temple priests are referred to as the High Priests of Karnak, but in The Mummy's Ghost they are referred to as the Priests of Arkam.
