Hertfordshire is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county in the East region of England. The county town is Hertford. Hertfordshire is one of the home counties and lies inland, bordered by Greater London (to the south), Buckinghamshire (to the west), Bedfordshire (including the unitary authorities of Luton and Central Bedfordshire to the north), Cambridgeshire (to the north east) and Essex (to the east).
Blake's 7 and Doctor Who writer Robert Holmes was born in Hertfordshire in 1928. He is also known for writing episodes of Knight Errand Limited, Deadline Midnight, Ghost Squad and Dr. Finlay's Casebook.
Star Wars actor Jack Purvis (known for playing a Jawa and an Ugnaught in episode IV and V) passed away in Bushey, Hertfordshire in November, 1997 at the age of 59.
