Hector Hall is a fictional comic book superhero who has gone by the code names of Silver Scarab, Sandman, and Doctor Fate. He appears in comic books published by DC Comics and is associated with the Justice Society of America family of titles. He was originally indigenous to the continuity known as Earth-Two, but the character's back-story was retroactively restructured to accommodate his presence in modern continuity. He first appeared as the Silver Scarab in All-Star Squadron #25 in September, 1983. His ascendancy to the mantle of Doctor Fate took place in the first story-arc from JSA, Volume 1 with Hector being identified as the new Doctor Fate in JSA #4.
