- The character of Hawkman was created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Joe Kubert. He first appeared in The Brave and the Bold #34 in February-March, 1961 in a story titled "Creature of a Thousand Shapes!" The character is inspired by a previous iteration named Carter Hall, who was created by Gardner Fox and artist Dennis Neville. This character was introduced in Flash Comics #1 in January, 1940.
