Hawkman learns from scientist Professor Barnes that there is a danger from deep space that threatens Earth. Along with his pet bird Skreal, Hawkman takes his star cruiser to the planet Pluto. Warlord Kobarah and his soldiers have a massive laser weapon that can fire a destructive beam of energy towards Earth. It is his intent to soften up Earth for a potential invasion. Hawkman fights Kobarah's goons and raids the observatory where he destroys the turbine that powers the laser. However, this sets off a chain reaction that threatens to detonate the facility.
