Hawaii is a state within the United States of America. It is the newest of the fifty U.States and one of two non-continental states (Alaska being the first. It is also the only U.S. that is comprised of an island chain. Hawaii occupies most of an archipelago in the central Pacific Ocean, southwest of the continental United States, southeast of Japan, and northeast of Australia.

In the 1988 film version of Journey to the Center of the Earth, a gathering of adventurers discovered a volcanic fissure in Hawaii. Getting trapped underground, they came upon what they believed to be the lost city of Atlantis.
DC Comics[]
The teen superhero clone, Superboy, once chose Hawaii as his base of operations during the early years of his career. After a short stint in Metropolis, Superboy moved to Honolulu with his publicist Rex Leech, and Rex's daughter, Roxy Leech. Superboy's wild antics made him quite the thorn in the side of police detective Sam Makoa. Roxy Leech eventually became a uniformed police officer on the Hawaii Police Department.
