The Haunted is a made-for-TV movie of the supernatural thriller subgenre of horror. It was directed by Robert Mandel with a teleplay written by Darrah Cloud. It is based on the book written by Ed Warren, Lorraine Warren, Robert Curran, Jack Smurl and Janet Smurl about the true-life accounts of the demonic infestation of the Smurl family residence between 1974 and 1989. It was produced by FNM Films and 20th Century Fox Television. It first aired on the FOX Network on Monday, May 6th, 1991 at 8:00 pm (EST). The film stars Jeffrey DeMunn as Jack Smurl with Sally Kirkland as Janet Smurl.
