Harrison Ford was nominated for the Saturn Award for the category of Best Actor at the 1978 Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films ceremony for his role as Han Solo in Star Wars. He was nominated again in 2009 for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. In 1996 he received the Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award.

Harrison was nominated at the 2012 People's Choice Awards for the category of Favorite Movie Icon.

Harrison Ford's first film work was an uncredited appearance as a bellhop pager in the 1966 film Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round.

Outside of Star Wars, Harrison Ford is best known for playing the role of archaeologist/adventurer Indiana Jones in the Indiana Jones film series. Of the films that have been made, only the fourth one, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull contains elements of science fiction.

Harrison Ford has appeared in two horror films. In 1977 he appeared in The Possessed and in 2000 he appeared in What Lies Beneath.
