- Harley Quinn was created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. She first appeared in episode 1x07 of Batman: The Animated Series in 1992 entitled "Joker's Favor".

- Frank makes reference to restaurants called Applebeast and Olive Gorgon. These are obvious puns on real world eateries Appleby's and the Olive Garden.
- Reference is made to Godzilla in this issue. Godzilla is a giant mutated dinosaur-like creature and the name of a multi-film Japanese franchise that began in 1954 with Gojira. Harley previously made a Godzilla referenced when she smashed a model train set town in Harley Quinn, Volume 2 #4 in 2014.
- Harley Quinn makes reference to Voltron in this episode. Voltron is the name of a mecha-robot and is the titular protagonist of the Voltron animated franchise, which began as a cartoon series in 1984.
