Happy Death Day is an American feature film of the paranormal thriller genre with elements of the slasher genre as well. It was directed by Christopher Landon with a script written by comic book writer Scott Lobdell. The movie was produced by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions and released theatrically in the United States on October 13th, 2007. The film stars Jessica Rothe as college student Theresa "Tree" Gelbman. Tree awakens one morning after a party only to have her life tragically cut short by a hooded killer wearing a baby mask. The end is actually just the beginning of Tree's problems however, as she awakens from her down demise, only to find herself repeating the same day over and over again. She deduces that the only way she can break this chronal time-loop and save herself is to solve the mystery of her own murder.
