Hannibal Bates is a fictional shape-shifter and a minor recurring antagonist featured in the DC Television Universe. He is based on the character of Hannibal Bates, who is a DC Comics character who first appeared in 52 Week 9 in July, 2006. The DC TV version of Bates was first referenced as early as episode 1x02 of Arrow titled "Honor Thy Father" wherein his name was on a list written down by the late Robert Queen. Hannibal Bates made two appearances in season one of the spin-off series The Flash. He appeared "Who Is Harrison Wells?" and "The Trap".
