Hamir, also known as Hamir the Hermit, was a secondary character featured in the Doctor Strange family of titles. The character was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko and introduced in the fourth story in Strange Tales, Volume 1 #111.

Biography[]

Hamir was a man of Tibetan-Chinese descent who lived in the remote village of Kamar-Taj in the mountains of Tibet. Also known as Hamir the Hermit, he followed his family's tradition of voluntary service to the Earth realm's Sorcerer Supreme. Hamir served under the tutelage of the Ancient One during the latter's final years under that title. Hamir's son, Wong, carried on the family tradition and functioned as manservant to the Ancient One's successor, Doctor [[Stephen Strange]

Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Mysticism: Hamir is mystically attuned to the forces of magic and has witnessed rituals, incantations, invocations and other disciplines related to magic. As such, he has dabbled in minor feats of sorcery.
  • Levitation: Hamir has demonstrated meager aptitude with powers pertaining to the arcane arts and Eastern mysticism; enough so to conduct minor feats of magic such as levitating his body several feet from the ground as well as levitating others, which is actually just a minimalist form of telekinesis.

Skills[]

  • Martial arts: It is possible that Hamir may have been trained in some style of martial arts or self defense. This was common among many of the monks and others living at Kamar-Taj. However, Hamir has never demonstrated any such talents.
