The HYDRA power vest is a fictional piece of equipment featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. It first appeared in Captain America, Volume 1 #110 in February, 1969 in a story titled, "No Longer Alone!".
Description[]
The power vest is a piece of body armor developed by scientists of the international terrorist organization HYDRA. The vest increases the overall strength and durability of the wearer. A HYDRA agent wore the vest and went one-on-one with Captain America. The agent and Cap plowed through a wall, but the vest shielded the agent from major injury. However, it did knock him unconscious.
While no one was looking, Captain America took the agent's HYDRA garb and the vest, and infiltrated the organization's ranks, claiming to have killed Captain America. Cap's new partner, Rick Jones (having just assumed the identity of Bucky), believed Cap dead and attacked HYDRA, forcing Steve to expose himself. He then shed the vest and resumed wearing his normal attire.
