Gunnison County is a county located in the U.S. state of Colorado. The county was named for John W. Gunnison, a United States Army officer and captain in the Army Topographical Engineers, who surveyed for the transcontinental railroad in 1853. The 2007 science fiction/horror film Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem takes place entirely in the fictional town of Crested Butte, which is located in Gunnison County.

- Crested Butte
- Crested Butte was a small town located in Gunnison County in Colorado. It did not maintain a municipal police force and had to rely upon the staff and resources of the Gunnison County Sheriff's Department. In October, 2004, a Predator mother ship crash-landed in the forests outside Crested Butte. Although the Yautjas that commanded the ship had already died, an alien hybrid known as a Predalien was set loose. The ship also contained specimens of Xenomorph facehuggers. Once the facehuggers were freed from containment, they were able to find human host bodies from which to propagate their species. An elder Yautja known as "Wolf" discovered what had happened to the downed ship and came to Earth to eradicate the Xenomorph infestation and remove all evidence of his people's presence. When the National Guard and the OWLF learned about the Xenomorph infestation, it was determined that the only way to contain the species was to launch a low-yield nuclear device in the center of the city. Only four residents of Crested Butte managed to evacuate the town and survive the explosion.
