Gunnery Sergeant is a rank of enlisted non-commissioned officer in some branch of the armed forces. In Earth military culture, a Gunnery Sergeant was a rank held by members of the United States Marine Corps (USMC). The rank is just above that of Staff Sergeant and below Master Sergeant and First Sergeant. The rank has also been used in several non-Terran military outfits such as Systems Commonwealth High Guard featured in the television series Andromeda.
