Biography[]
The Growing Man was a robotic android known as a "stimuloid", who originated from the alternate future timeline known as Earth-6311. He was developed by the conqueror known as Kang and possessed the ability increase its size, mass and density whenever it was struck. Hence why he's called "The Growing Man" as opposed to "That Shrinking Guy".
Kang brought the stimuloid to 20th century Earth to keep him hidden from his Earth-6311 adversaries until such time that he would be able to set him loose. The Growing Man became active and was let loose in New York City. As he began running amok, the thunder god known as Thor arrived to do battle with it. A blow from Thor's hammer Mjolnir caused the Growing Man to double in size. Kang let the Growing Man have some fun with Thor for a bit before reducing him to doll-size by way of his De-Energizer ray. He then made off with him in his Time-Ship. [1]
When the Avengers were trapped in Temporal Limbo, they came upon Kang's castle. They found the Growing Man residing within. When he emerged, he engaged in a protracted physical battle with Hercules. During the fight, Hercules hit the Growing Man with a blow so powerful that it disrupted the stimuloid's enhancement features. The robot sailed across the sky and crashed into the ground, inert. [2]
