Groot is a fictional alien and a comic book character featured in titles published by Marvel Comics. He was originally introduced as one of the "Pre-Marvel" age sci-fi monsters in the pages of Tales to Astonish #13 in 1960, but has since become a part of the mainstream Marvel Universe. In more recent years, Groot has become a member of the cosmic outlaw group, the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Overview[]
Groot is a giant plant creature of the Flora Colossus. Like most aliens from other worlds, he once came to Earth bent on conquering it. And as with other aliens, he failed epically at this task. He has since gotten over the whole affair and now pals around with the Guardians of the Galaxy where he has formed a close bond with teammate Rocket Raccoon.
