Gremlins 2: The New Batch is an American feature film of the family and comedy genres with some elements of horror. It was directed by Joe Dante with a script written by Charlie Haas. It is a sequel to the 1984 film Gremlins. The movie was produced by Amblin Entertainment and Warner Bros. and released theatrically in the United States on June 15th, 1990. The movie follows a similar premise to the first one, in which the cute harmless Mogwai known as Gizmo is fed after midnight, which causes him to spontaneously reproduce dozens of offspring. The offspring get wet, which causes a mutation that turns them from approachable furry creatures into repulsive, scaly monsters. Except this time, the Gremlins aren't just terrorizing a small town, they've taken over New York City! Original film stars Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates return in their respective roles as Billy Peltzer and Kate Beringer. Other notable actors include John Glover as Daniel Clamp, Robert Picardo as Forster, Christopher Lee as Doctor Catheter, and Dick Miller once again playing the part of the cantankerous Murray Futterman.
