- The character of Hal Jordan, aka Green Lantern, was created by writer John Broome and artist Gil Kane. He first appeared in Showcase #22 in October, 1959 in a story titled "S.O.S. Green Lantern!" He received his first ongoing Green Lantern comic book series in August, 1960.
- This issue carries the approval stamp of the Comics Code Authority. It is colored black on the cover to this issue with white lettering whereas it is usually colored white with black lettering.
