Notes & Trivia[]
- The character of Hal Jordan, aka Green Lantern, was created by writer John Broome and artist Gil Kane. He first appeared in Showcase #22 in October, 1959 in a story titled "S.O.S. Green Lantern!" He received his first ongoing Green Lantern comic book series in August, 1960.
- This issue carries the approval stamp of the Comics Code Authority.
- This is the first appearance of the Central Power Battery of Oa.
- Sinestro uses the Qwardian power ring for the first time in this issue.
- This issue introduces the Green Lantern Corps members Chaselon, Larvox, NautKeloi, Rori Stroh and Xax.
- Tomar-Re appeared last in Green Lantern #6.
- "Green Lantern's Brother Act!" introduces Hal Jordan's two brothers, Jack Jordan and Jim Jordan. Jack is the oldest and most practical of the siblings, while Jim is the youngest of the three and often thought of as the irresponsible one.
- Hal Jordan previously banished Sinestro to the Antimatter Universe planet Qward in Green Lantern #7.
- According to the Guardians of the Universe, it will take 18 billion years to complete an orbit of the universe.
- Sue Williams believes that Jim Jordan is Green Lantern because he wears eye-glasses and acts a bit scatterbrained. These are characteristics often attributed to Superman in his civilian guise as Clark Kent.
- Sue Williams' belief that Green Lantern will swoop down out of the sky to rescue her is very similar to a tactic utilized by Lois Lane, who often places herself in danger, confident that Superman will come rescue her.
