The Great Beasts are a fictional group of monsters featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. Technically, they made their first actual appearance in The X-Men, Volume 1 #120 in April, 1979. This is the first appearance of Walter Langkowski, aka Sasquatch, whose monstrous form was later attributed to the Great Beast known as Tanaraq. The first appearance of the Great Beasts outside of Langkowski's Tanaraq form was in Alpha Flight, Volume 1 #1 in August, 1983. This was the introduction of Tundra. The Great Beasts made their first full appearance as a collective group in Alpha Flight, Volume 1 #24 in July, 1985.
