The Gotham Theater District is a fictional location featured in comic books published by DC Comics. It is associated with the Batman line of comics and first appeared in Detective Comics #934 in August, 2016.
The Gotham Theater District was a neighborhood located in the midtown area of Gotham City. One of the movie theaters was known to screen classic films. Basil Karlo, the former film actor turned semi-reformed super-villain known as Clayface, escaped from Arkham Asylum and came to the district in the hopes of seeing one of his old films, Metamorphosis, one more time on the big screen. Batman and Batwoman arrived to bring him back to Arkham, but Basil pleaded with them to allow him to watch the movie. Batman conceded to Karlo's wishes, and in addition, invited him to become part of a group of hand-selected protectors of the city dubbed the Gotham Knights.
