Godzilla vs. Destoroyah is a Japanese feature film of the science fiction genre and part of the greater Godzilla film series . It is the seventh and final installment in the 1990s Heisei period of films in the franchise. The movie was directed by Takao Okawara with a script written by Kazuki Ohmori . It was produced by Toho Company, Ltd. and released theatrically in Japan on December 9th , 1995 .

The tagline for this film is "Gojira Shizu", which translated means, "Godzilla Dies!".
Godzilla vs. Destoroyah premiered in the United States on VHS and DVD on January 19th , 1999 . It was released through Columbia TriStar Home Video.
This film marks the final appearance of all characters, including the Hesei era version of Godzilla and Miki Saegusa. "Junior" becomes a fully-grown replacement for Godzilla at the end of the film.
