  • Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. is the twenty-seventh film in the Godzilla film series. It is the fifth film in the Millennium series.
  • This is the second and final appearance of actor Hiroshi Koizumi in the role of Doctor Shin'ichi Chûjô. He previously played the character in the 1961 film Mothra. Scenes from that movie are edited into this film as a flashback.
  • Originally it was director Masaaki Tezuka's intent to have Anguirus as the dead monster that washes up ashore in Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S., but this was changed to the more obscure Kamoebas to avoid fan outrage.
