Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters is a Japanese animated feature film of the daikaiju or "giant monster" sub-genre of action and science fiction. It was directed by Hiroyuki Seshita and Kôbun Shizuno with a screenplay written by Gen Urobuchi based on an original story by Urobuchi. It was produced by the Toho Company and Polygon Pictures. It was released theatrically in Japan on November 17th, 2017.

- The Japanese title for this film is Gojira: Kaijû Wakusei, which directly translates to Godzilla: Monster Planet.
- This is the first installment in a three film trilogy that continues in Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle in 2018, and Godzilla: The Planet Eater, also in 2018.
- Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters became available for instant streaming on most subscription platforms, including Netflix, on January 17th, 2018.
- Composer Takayuki Hattori also scored the music for 1994's Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla.
- In terms of franchise release, this movie premiered after Shin Godzilla in 2016. The next installment in the franchise is Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle in 2018. Following the animated trilogy, the next film is the American movie, Godzilla: King of the Monsters in 2019.
- This is the second appearance of Orga. Orga is an alien/kaiju hybrid that fought Godzilla in Godzilla 2000.
