Hominidae
Hominidae is the scientific classification for the extenct genus of humanity often referred to as the great apes. The existed between three to fourteen million years ago and include several sub-groups such as gorillas, humans, orangutans and chimpanzees. Early ancestors of the great apes were featured in the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey. A future variant of hominidae would include the highly evolved talking apes featured in the Planet of the Apes franchise.
