Biography[]

"It's just too strong, Ben -- I can't hold it!"
Mister Fantastic

Giganto was an undersea behemoth monster of indesribable size and mysterious origin. He was not a particularly active creature, and generally hibernated inside of a deep cave in the depths of the Northern ocean. The Atlanteans had the ability to awaken Giganto through the use of the Horn of Proteus and regarded him as a biological Doomsday weapon - sending him out to devastate their foes.

During the early days of the modern age of heroes, Prince Namor - the Sub-Mariner, having only recently regained his memory after having been an amnesiac for several years, discovered that Atlantis had been devastated and he blamed the carnage on the surface world. Declaring war on all surface dwellers, Namor led an invasion of the United States, beginning with New York City. He summoned Giganto with the Proteus Horn and rode astride him as the creature surfaced outside the city. The Fantastic Four were the first responders to the carnage and the Thing had to carry an atomic device inside of the beast's body and detonate it inside of it's intestines. The explosion was sufficient enough to destroy the creature. [1]

Notes & Trivia[]
