Giganto is a fictional giant monster featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is part of the mainstream Marvel Universe and first appeared in Fantastic Four, Volume 1 #1 in November, 1961.
Overview[]
Giganto was the name attributed to a humongous reptilian creature that lived in the underground caverns of Subterranea beneath Monster Isle. It has been theorized that Giganto may have been descended from a subrace of Deviant, or may be a Deviant himself, albeit a primitive one. Like all of the creatures on Monster Isle, Giganto is obedient to the commands of Subterranean's ruler, the Mole Man.
Biography[]
When the Fantastic Four began investigating a series of cave-ins responsible for destroying several atomic research plants, they came to Monster Isle, where they had to fight up against the Mole Man. The Mole Man summoned Giganto to fight them, but the neophyte superhero team managed to survive their initial encounter with the creature. [1]
