Gigantians are a fictional alien race featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. They are part of the mainstream Marvel Universe and are represented via the character of the Stranger, who was introduced in The X-Men, Volume 1 #11 in May, 1965.
Description[]
The Gigantians were a humanoid extraterrestrial race that hailed from a planet known as Gigantus. The planet itself, located in the Andromeda Galaxy, had reached its maximum development in terms of geographical size and other races, notably the Eternians, believed that the planet had become too large for conquest. Despite the fact that the Gigantians were a highly evolved pacifist society, the Eternians took the opportunity to attack them.
Before their world's destruction, however, a vast fleet of Gigantian ships escaped to retaliate against their attackers. After destroying Eternus, the Gigantians in some as yet unknown way, melded their minds into a single being, apparently to one day combat Eternians’ similar composite entity, the Overmind. This being became known as the Stranger.
