Gideon is a fictional artificial intelligence featured in the DC Television Universe. It first appeared in "The Trap" episode of The Flash in 2015, but later became an integral part of the show's companion series, Legends of Tomorrow. The voice of Gideon was provided by Morena Baccarin, who was uncredited for her work on the series. On Legends of Tomorrow, Gideon was voiced by Amy Pemberton.
Gideon is an artificial intelligence. It was created by Barry Allen at some point in the distant future. Because it was based on futuristic technology, Gideon employed an operating system that was far in advance of modern conventions. Even Cisco Ramon, a brilliant expert in computer sciences was overwhelmed by the complexity of Gideon's mainframe. The time-traveling super-villain Eobard Thawne, while masquerading as a 20th century scientist named Harrison Wells, had a version of Gideon locked away in his secret vault at S.T.A.R. Labs. The modern era's version of Barry Allen, along with Cisco Ramon, and Caitlin Snow, found the secret vault and accessed Gideon's mainframe.
Gideon was also the central operating system for the time-traveling ship known as the Waverider.
